On March 1st the Anaheim Ducks hosted the finalist of their Behind the Mask assembly program. Every year the Anaheim Ducks attend 3 elementary schools where 2x Olympic goaltender Molly Schaus talks to students about the unique history of the goal mask and how it is one of the only pieces of equipment that can be completely personalized by the goalie wearing it. Molly teaches students how to use symbols, colors, words and more to express their own story Over 500 students submitted their own design and story. On March 1st, 7 finalist were celebrated and our winner got to see her design turn into a real helmet that Lukas Dostal wore in warm ups.
On Tuesday, February 27th, Anaheim Ducks hosted 15,000 students at Honda Center. The First Flight program is a free STEM program that teaches students the science of hockey. Each student receives a workbook to learn about these concepts their own classroom then the Anaheim Ducks turn Honda Center into the largest classroom in California. Students watch the Anaheim Ducks practice and learn about these concepts being displayed right in front of them. This year students learned how to "Build a Better Puck." They learned about shapes, materials, volume, and other factors that go into engineering a better puck!
